You have booked yourself that well earned holiday in The Algarve and look forward to relaxing, but there are plenty of other things to do besides laying on the beach and you will still get a good tan! Here are some cracking ideas in and around The Algarve

1.     SURFING, Lagos
Lagos is now established as the town in The Algarve for surf holidays and whether you book into a surf camp, or stay in a hotel or apartment and book the surf lessons separately, this is the place to do it. Most surfing takes place in the area which is great for beginners and intermediates alike.

2. BOAT TRIPS, Lagos
There are stands and shops along the main avenida and in the marina dedicated to selling boat trips of all kinds – check out the Dolphin tours; from experience morning is the best trip (around 10am) and you are back in time for lunch. For the more adventurous check out shark fishing and experience some of the best big game fishing areas of Europe.

3 MOUNTAINBIKING, Lagos
Not had enough of a adrenalin rush, then have a go at mountainbiking? Anything from a 10km half day cross country tour to a full on extreme downhill ride in the Monchique mountains behind Lagos, this is a full on 2000 metre vertical ride of dirt roads and single track – wicked!

4. WATERPARKS, Lagoa & Alcantrilha
Day off surfing but not had enough of the water yet? Then check out two of the biggest waterparks in the Algarve – Aqualand in Alcamntrilha and Slide and Splash in Lagoa – get there by bus or car or check out the organised tours on the stands in Lagos town and Marina.

5. GO-KARTING, Aerodrome
Pitch your sriving skills against your mates, are they better than your surfing skills? There are two big Go-Kart ciurcuits in The Algarve – one at the Formula 1 approved  Autodromo race track just off the motorway at and the second in Almancil. Your surfcamp or accommodation can tell you how to get there.

6.     FIESA, Armacao de Pera
This is a must see. During May to October The Algarve plays host to one of the biggest Sand Sculpture exhibitions in the world, every year is a different theme and this year is Music – go and admire the detail these artists put into their life-like sculptures – truly amazing!
