Getting to treat ourselves to a surf holiday in our favourite surf spots in Europe is exactly what we need to have lots of fun trying out something new, or simply because we already love the ocean and surfing.  Here are our favourite surf destinations to take your partner:
 
  • 1- Fuerteventura


A great option for an activity break for a couple is a week learning to surf in Fuerteventura.  This incredibly beautiful Canarian island is one of Spain's best kept secrets.  Whereas the other islands attract a lot of tourists, Fuerteventura and its waves have managed to keep a very relaxed vibe, yet nicely balanced with more than its fair share of excellent restaurants and bars to frequent in the evenings.  Stay at the adult only hotel- Barcelo, for some real peace and quiet during your trip.
 
  • 2- Ericeira


Portugal is an ideal spot for an activity break for couples looking to learn how to surf, especially if you visit the town of Ericeira.  With 9 surf beaches within a 4km stretch from Ericeira it is little wonder that the town has been awarded the rare honour of being designated a world surf reserve.  During the day learn to surf in the beginner waves of Foz do Lizandro beach, and then by night stroll around the cobblestone streets of the town itself to discover local culinary delights.  Stay at the Helio Bungalows for a local touch of style.
 
  • 3- Lagos


If your looking for somewhere a little of the grid for you and your partner, but wanting some warmer weather and waves, then Lagos is ideal.  Located on the Western Algarve, so it benefits from 20 plus sunshine for at least 8 months of the year, plus it's not well known on the surfing map, so there are miles of surfing beaches just waiting to be discovered... perfect for learning to surf with your instructor.  During your activity break, make the most of your down time by staying in the prime location of Casa Offshore Surf Camp in a double ensuite room.  Perfect for a little quality time or for socializing and making some new fun-filled friends.
